8 Tips for Easy Commercial Equipment Maintenance
Maintenance of your commercial kitchen equipment is essential to keep it in good condition and working efficiently and safely. We’ve put together some quick tips to help you keep your equipment clean and in top condition.
1. Prevent dirt build up by cleaning daily. A build up of grease and food debris wears down the equipment and prevents it working properly. It is also much easier to clean off food remains before they become baked on.
2. Plan a schedule for calibrating ovens, descaling equipment that needs it, checking the temperature of freezers and refrigerators and cleaning and stick to it! Post it in a prominent place with check boxes to ensure all the tasks are carried out.
3. Make sure you read and follow cleaning instructions on bottles and manuals or you could damage your equipment.
5. If you don’t have a manufacturers maintenance manual for a piece of equipment contact them or check online for the proper way to maintain the equipment.
6. Arrange for a service contract with the manufacturer of the equipment or a local company. The longer life and continued efficiency of the equipment will more than make up for the cost.
7. Choose equipment that can be dismantled and reassembled easily to make cleaning and maintaining much easier.
8. Put away small pieces of equipment such as blenders when not in use to prevent accidental damage.
